POEM
I DON’T FEEL LIKE IT
I don’t feel like it
Don’t feel like talking or smiling or paying attention
But I will,
Oh yeah, you know I will.
I don’t want it
I don’t want to eat it, do it, touch it, or hear it
But I will,
Oh yeah, you know I will.
I don’t need any of it
This or that or any of it
But you know I’ll take it,
Oh yeah, you know I will.
So what will it be?
You know,
For me?
Along-nosed witch
With my back hunched over from
Carrying
Nothing that was mine.
No, nothing that was mine.
There was room because
Nothing had been mine
And I liked it that way.
Empty.
I don’t love it,
No, I will never love it, but I will love
What’s behind all of this,
That pin-point of Infinity
You know I do,
Oh yeah, you know I do.
I don’t know why it’s there.
No, I don’t know why it’s there.
And what if in another five,
It isn’t.
What will I do then?
Oh,
What will I do then?
I’m sure I won’t feel like it.
Won’t feel like talking or smiling or paying attention.
But I will,
Oh yeah, you know I will.
